The drive on the M4 and A470 was fine. The road up from Merthyr Tydfil is in theory wide enough for coaches but Welsh Water decided the day before to dig big holes in the road. The minibuses could fit through but not coaches. This meant the coach had to pull into a big turning about 3 miles from the centre. There is a big turning for coaches about 200m from the centre but the dug holes prevented us reaching it.
When we got to the hole on the way out at about 10:00 pm, Atilla was really relaxed (particularly considering we got diverted off the M4 and were stuck in loads of road works traffic) and just pulled into the lay-by while we called the centre and arranged for the minibuses to shuttle run the students, staff and kit up. He was really helpful, really patient and rather than dropping us off and leaving, he let the students sit on the coach in the warm while we were shuttling. This took about an hour. Please do pass on a massive thank you to MET coaches and him for this, above and beyond the call of duty!
We got back in 4 hours including a break! Un-heard of.
Thanks,
James
