As many of our followers will know, our MD, Peter, is a sports fanatic, especially football: except when Roger Federer is playing, then you’ll hear nothing other than tennis.
He’s still an active sportsman and plays football a lot. This Saturday though, he was supposed to be just a spectator.
He’d been invited to watch his brother-in-law’s under 11 West Herts team play. We should point out that Peter’s brother-in-law is of course much older than 11.
West Herts under 11’s were playing against Colney Heath, but the match was short, last minute, of a linesman. Peter offered his services as an emergency stand in linesman and saw the match through.
There were no complaints apparently and West Herts eventually beat Colney Heath 4 -1, so a good day was had on the Met side.
Unfortunately, no photos of the man himself commanding the touch line, but a local sketch artist was on hand and captured a moment when things got a little out of hand and Peter had to step in. Yes, we know it’s a sketch of a ref, but Peter can get pretty enthusiastic where football is concerned.
