With Christmas fast approaching, many care home providers are making the place come alive with beautiful decorations and arranging a series of festive events for their residents. Their thoughtfulness is particularly important to residents who don’t have any family to visit and those who are too frail to leave the care home over the festive period. Staff and management put in extra effort to ensure their residents enjoy the festive period as others would. So we’d like to share with you some heart-warming events we’ve found across the UK.
Music has the power to sooth one’s soul. Many care home providers like to arrange different choir groups from local schools and churches to come and perform carol singing. Often this is where the magic happens – residents’ faces light-up and they sing along joyfully. When the music plays, they are no longer bound by their physical impairments or struggles associated with any illnesses that hold them there.
Nativity plays are another popular option. Watching innocent school children dressing up in different costumes, welcoming baby Jesus to earth is always wonderful to watch. After the play, many residents also love to share mince pies and a cup of tea with the young actors and actresses.
Many care home providers also take their residents out to a Christmas Market. There are quite a few excellent Christmas Markets to be found around the Greater London area, including the popular Southbank Centre Christmas Market which also hosts the Real Food Christmas Market. If you are planning this, hire a minibus or a coach from MET Coaches. We have a luxury 18-seat Mercedes minibus and a spacious coach with 35 reclining seats and an on-board toilet for maximum comfort, as well as a fleet of mid-sized coaches in between for you to choose from. We are experts in day-trips for care home residents.
Alternatively, care home managers may opt for a Christmas lunch, followed by a shopping trip to the mall for their residents. Pantomime is another great option. This year, Cinderella is playing at the London Palladium. Either you are planning a Christmas lunch or a Pantomime, give us a call and we will take care of your transport needs.
Hiring a minibus or a coach is value for money, not to mention providing maximum comfort. Our service is unparalleled, as we invest a lot of time and money into planning routes and comfort stops, and will be happy to offer pre-arranged, extra breaks at places we know have the best or most appropriate facilities. We also have coaches with facilities such as sliding doors or tail lifts for individuals with mobility and sensory impairments, along with climate control, hot and cold drinks, toilet facilities and spacious, comfortable seating.
